Keeping Money in Perspective

Keeping Money in Perspective

Money isn’t the goal in the light of God’s glory.

Overview

One of the greatest challenges in our age-and in any age-is how to keep money in perspective. Money can be a great opportunity and a wonderful tool, but it also can be a tremendous temptation and significant stumbling block. With money, we can accomplish great things for God, or we can lose sight of our dependence on God and rely instead on our own selfish interests and desires. Money is the means to an end-not the end in itself.

The Bible has a lot to say about money's role and use in human life. Most people think the majority of Jesus' teaching focuses on healing, or conviction of sin, or on the failings of the religious leaders of his day. Actually, the majority of his teaching is focused on money and possessions and how to keep a proper perspective on wealth. A primary spiritual issue is how we can have a proper discernment of the dollar sign in life-and God's wisdom in money choices.
