Show Me the Way
By Sandro DiSabatino | Published 11/1/2007 | November 2007 , Outreach , Discipleship Unrated
You’ve got the purpose-driven church, the seeker-sensitive church, the connecting church, the emerging church, the simple church, the irresistible influence church, and the missional church to mention only a few of the most popular ways of organizing the church to be on mission with God. So which is it? Let me guess your answer. It’s none of the above. You’ve attended the latest seminar, bought the latest leadership handbook, got the T-Shirt, and you’re still stuck holding your Starbucks and asking yourself, “I wonder how long this new thing will last? Is that really what I need – another new thing, or should I be showing people a new way?”
Control
By Michael C. Mack | Published 04/17/2007 | Departments , Discipleship Unrated
How much control of the group should the leader take? At what point is a leader becoming too controlling? When does a leader need to take more control over the group?
Beyond the Social Scene
By Esther M. Bailey | Published 11/1/2006 | November 2006 , Outreach , Community Building , Discipleship Unrated
“What can the seminary do to better prepare our graduates to enter the ministry?’” the dean said to an older, successful pastor. The candid answer was unexpected. “Get them saved!” The pastor had been dealing with an associate who was floundering with the reality of his faith.
Disciple-Making Small Groups Marry Mission and Values
By Reid Smith | Published 10/4/2006 | Discipleship , October 2006 , Vision and Mission Unrated
When Jesus commanded his followers to “make disciples,” it was a call to mission as a lifestyle (Matthew 28:18-20). The way we are instructed to ‘make’ more followers & learners of Christ is by baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything Jesus has told us to do. The word “teach” in The Great Commission involves more than verbal instruction (v. 20a). It involves the whole person and the whole of life.
Discipleship – When Fruit Gets in the Way
By Steve Rowe | Published 10/3/2006 | Vision and Mission , Discipleship , October 2006 Unrated
As a small group pastor, I sometimes feel that we have taken Jesus’ words in Matthew and retranslated them to say, “Go into the world and make intimate small group experiences for everyone.” Another one would be, “Go into the world and build an organizational flowchart for ministry, with small groups as the assimilation plan.”
Out of the Comfort Zone
By Michael C. Mack | Published 03/5/1999 | Departments , Discipleship Unrated
Have you ever been in a group that loves unconditionally, gives of itself generously, cares for others unselfishly?
Testimonies from your Home Group
By The Small Group Network Community | Published 03/3/1999 | Departments , Discipleship Unrated

Small Groups and Revival
By Michael C. Mack | Published 02/4/1999 | Departments , Discipleship Unrated

How can small groups bring about revival? That’s the main question being asked in this month’s issue of Small Group Dynamics.

Surrender, Submit, Yield
By Michael C. Mack | Published 12/4/1997 | Departments , Discipleship Unrated
Just who should be teachers? James told his audience that not many of them should presume to be teachers, but Paul told his listeners that they were competent to instruct each other. Perhaps Paul's admonition in Romans 12 helps: Let teachers teach, let servers serve, let leaders lead. And were the Hebrew Christians all that much more immature in their faith than the Roman Christians who were competent to instruct?
What About You?
By Michael C. Mack | Published 09/2/1997 | Departments , Discipleship Unrated
I record my prayers, praises, and thoughts during my quiet times in a simple journal.
