Activity:
Instruct group members to raise their right foot and move it in clockwise circles. Then challenge them to use their right forefinger to trace counter-clockwise circles in the air. (This is really challenging! I have not seen anyone able to do it.) After everybody has a chance to try, discuss the following questions.
Unpacking Questions:
- What did you observe about your foot as you started moving your finger?
- How many times did you try to do the challenge before you finally gave up? Why is this activity so difficult?
- What is an example of a compromising situation? How do you stand against it?
- What does the Bible mean when it tells us to "Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world"?
- When are you tempted to follow the world's ways?
- Have you started following a pattern of the world and only noticed it later? What did you do about it?
- How can we bolster each other so that we aren't easily swayed?
- Read James 1:5-8 (NLT). What does this verse say about being swayed?
